Challan Monitoring System




UP Trade Tax Department is the organization responsible for the collection of Trade Tax on the sale or purchase of goods at a certain point of sale or purchase of goods throughout the state of Uttar Pradesh. Whenever a trade or business activity is performed by any individual, any group or association, any company, any authority or body or any organization, he has to pay certain percentage of turnover of sales / purchases to the government as trade tax, which inturn is utilized by the state for its development.

The task involving the requirement analysis, design, development, and implementation of Challan Monitoring System is enormously complex and time consuming. Every sectors project is unique on its own, there are some features [project goals] for TRADE TAX Department.

Those are…
  • To connect all sector offices [A.C. office], Dy Commissioner Offices, Jt. Commissioner Offices [regional offices], Addl. Commissioner Office [Zonal Offices] and Commissioner Office of the TRADE TAX department through two ways secure data communication link [internet connection through broadband or telephone lines].
The Web Enabled Challan Monitoring System for the U.P. Trade Tax Department. This software will facilitate the department in following manner:
  • Day wise & DDO wise total collection deposited in Banks
  • Preparation of DCR [Daily Collection Register] entered in Sector Office
  • Reconcile the challans details received from Banks, Treasury and Trade Tax Office
  • Listing of unmatched Challans according to AC, DDO, JC office wise
  • Miscellaneous MIS & DSS Reports

  • Trade Tax Department will receive the details of challan in soft copy through e-mail from the authorized banks and treasury at Head Quarter Level in Lucknow.
  • To create Data Sources Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) as DSN [Data Source Name] to access data from a variety of database management systems for any data type.
  • This DSN will be used to import the data received from the Banks and treasury in any data type format
  • The e-mails received from all banks and treasury of entire state would be imported into Central database at Commissioner Office in Lucknow. This conversion will be categorized according to Bank wise, Challan No wise, District [DDO office] wise, Dealer wise, date wise etc
  • Now the details of converted challans would be uploaded from central database server to the web server with in 24 Hrs. according to DDO office wise / district wise
  • The concerned DDO office of each district will download the imported data from web server to its local server
  • A desktop application would be designed to enter the daily challan details [which was deposited by the dealer] from its sector offices and the same will be stored in Local Data base of the district office
  • A DCR [Daily Collection Report] would be generated from the above data at each AC office
  • Now DDO office will reconcile the challans and mark the Unmatched Challans which was received from the banks & treasury and the challans entered in sector offices

  • The trade tax department will generate miscellaneous MIS [Management Information reports] & DSS [ Decision Support System] Reports for their decision making
