WIRELESS NETWORKING
It's short for "Wireless Fidelity", and it is used to describe
products that follow the 802.11 set of standards developed
by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers
[IEEE]. The most popular of these is 802.11b, which operates
in the 2.4 GHz band [the same frequency band as a microwave
oven and cordless telephone] and transfers data at 11 megabits
per second [Mbps].
HOTSPOTS ACCESS POINTS
A hotspot is a wireless access point where users can get
onto a network or the Internet. Hotspots are found in various
public places for free or for a fee, provided the users'
devices [laptops, PDAs] have Wi-Fi chipsets. Many airports
and hotels have hotspots. Soon, you will be able to find
a hotspot anywhere in the world.
WIRELESS NETWORK CARDS
Almost all desktop and laptop computers are compatible with
Ethernet circuits directly on the motherboard, and laptops
also have built-in Wi-Fi for wireless connectivity. To retrofit
older desktops, network adapters can be plugged into the
PCI bus, or USB-based adapters can be plugged into a USB
port, eliminating the need to open the case. For older laptops,
network adapters connect via a USB port or PC Card (CardBus)
slot.

power up to 2.0 GHz and touchscreen interfaces, and are
engineered to help withstand harsh conditions.
IVRS [INTERACTIVE
VOICE RESPONSE SYSTEM]
IVR provides automated access to information and services
over the phone. It integrates a Company's/Organization's
telephone and computer system to become a voice computer
that transforms the caller's telephone into a terminal capable
of directly accessing information and services. IVR answers
inquiries by prompting callers to input data onto the touch-tone
keypad, looking up the record in a database and speaking
back information. It can also ask the caller for information,
accept the answers as they are entered on the keypad and
store the information in a database. Being a voice computer,
an IVR system is capable of much advanced transaction processing
tasks.
Smart Card
It is a credit card sized plastic card with an embedded
microchip. It can carry secure data of Owner's Property
details
Smart Card Drive
This is a microprocessor based device capable of reading
a smart card and updating the embedded microchip with data.
Smart card Interface
This is the brain of the system. Complete control over the
system is possible through the interface that resides as
a layer between the Smart card and the application software.
